This is the full directory of US pre-internship, early insight, and exploratory programs at every major employer, from Goldman Sachs and Jane Street to NVIDIA, Bain, and P&G. It covers 70 programs across banking, investing, trading, tech, consulting, accounting, consumer brands, and multi-company pipelines, with the direct link, who it’s for, how it works, when it opens, and what it can lead to.

Read before applying: Dates are based on the latest cycle each company published, as of September 24, 2026. Names, eligibility, and windows change every year, so always confirm on the linked page. Most of these programs are recruited 9 to 15 months before they run.

What these programs are

  • Insight day or week: One day to one week of workshops, office tours, and networking. Often ends with an interview.
  • Summit or fellowship: Several sessions or a multi-day trip, usually with travel paid.
  • Pre-internship: A real paid summer role for first-years or sophomores, like Microsoft Explore, NVIDIA Ignite, or Deloitte Discovery.
  • Pipeline program: An outside organization, like SEO or MLT, that coaches you and places you with many employers.

Why they matter

  • Fast-track interviews: Many banks, trading firms, and P&G interview participants for the next summer before public applications open.
  • Recruiter relationships: You become a known name instead of one application in thousands.
  • Résumé proof: A named program at a top firm stands out on a first- or second-year résumé.
  • Free travel and pay: Most in-person programs cover flights and hotels, and several pay a stipend.

When they open: the yearly calendar

  • August to October: The busiest window. Most bank sophomore programs, Morgan Stanley Early Insights, NVIDIA Ignite, Deloitte Discovery, MLT priority deadlines, trading firm programs, Capital One summits.

How to get in

  • Apply broadly: Acceptance rates are low. Aim for 10 to 20 programs in your field.
  • Apply in week one: Many programs review on a rolling basis and fill before the deadline.
  • Prepare for the interview: Many applications include a video or technical interview. Practice with realistic questions first.
  • Write a clear “why”: Name the division or team and one specific thing you want to learn.
  • Follow up after: Email the people you met within 48 hours. That relationship is the real payoff.
  • Track every deadline: Put each program in your Intern Dock tracker with its opening date so you don’t miss next year’s window.

FAQ

When do pre-internship and early insight programs open?

Most open between August and October, roughly 9 to 15 months before they run. A second wave opens from November to January, and a smaller group, including BCG Advance and Discover Citadel, opens from February to April.

Do early insight programs lead to internship offers?

Many do. Programs such as P&G Standout Emerging Leaders, UBS Tomorrow’s Talent, IMC Launchpad, and Barclays Discovery include an interview or fast track for the following summer’s internship. Others are purely educational.
