Communications Intern

Are you interested in building hands-on experience in marketing, communications, public outreach, and content development? Do you enjoy writing, bringing creative ideas to life, and engaging with communities? Avid Core is seeking a part-time Communications Intern to support communications and outreach activities for state and local initiatives. The preferred work location for this position is Harrisonburg, Virginia. Working under the guidance of experienced team members, the intern will assist with content development, stakeholder outreach, digital communications, research, and project coordination while gaining practical experience in a professional consulting environment. Overall Responsibilities

Assist with drafting and editing basic communications materials, including emails, flyers, videos, and social media content Contribute to the development and implementation of communications strategies and marketing plans Assist with organizing and staffing in-person community engagement events and activities Help collect, organize, and maintain project data, notes, and trackers Support outreach efforts by helping distribute materials and promote initiatives Review and proofread documents for clarity, grammar, and consistency Provide administrative and project coordination support as needed Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

Able to attend and participate in in-person engagement events located in and around the City of Harrisonburg Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate or bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, government, or a related field.
