IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL

Improve understanding of basic additive manufacturing (AM) principles through: Practical experience in operating and maintaining additive manufacturing equipment, including machine setup, troubleshooting, and operation. CCAM’s research on metal AM equipment covers Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), Directed Energy Deposition (DED and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) Polymer 3D printing (Fused Deposition Modeling, FDM) also employed for tooling and fixtures Learning how to optimize designs for additive manufacturing to enhance efficiency and functionality. Gaining an understanding of various AM materials and their applications. Assisting in quality control processes, including in-situ sensing for process monitoring, inspection, testing, and documentation of AM parts to ensure they meet industry standards. Learning and adhering to safety protocols and best practices in additive manufacturing to ensure a safe working environment.

Improve engineering problem solving skillset through

Setup and operation of data acquisition platforms for in-situ data collection during the AM process Application of simple data analysis using Excel and other native data processing applications

Improve technical communication skills through

Data formatting, formal reporting and presentation of results Learning the importance of maintaining accurate records in a manufacturing environment.

Work collaboratively with our researchers to

Stay up to date with the latest developments in additive manufacturing technology and provide research support to the team. Conduct and assist in data analysis.
