Battery Engineering Intern (Summer 2027) Department: Internship Employment Type: Internship Location: Redondo Beach Compensation: $32.00 / hour

Description As a Battery Engineering Intern, you will support the development of lithium-ion battery packs for use in Impulse’s current and next generation space vehicles. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience working with flight electromechanical devices.

This role offers exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and the full spacecraft product development life cycle – from design to launch.

*This internship is 12 weeks long from May/June through August/September 2027*

Responsibilities

Support electrical or structural finite element analysis of electromechanical hardware Develop battery test hardware Support qualification testing and pcb bring-up Support battery assembly Develop new CAD models Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams

Minimum Qualifications

Recent completion or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field Hands-on project experience (ie Formula SAE, Design/Build/Fly, Senior Design) CAD experience (MCAD or ECAD) Hands-on experience with electronics or electrical test equipment Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment

Preferred Skills and Experience Experience with building battery packs or electromechanical devices Experience with Siemens NX Experience with ANSYS or Simcenter Experience with Altium Designer

Additional Requirements

Willing and able to work on-site in Redondo Beach, CA, for the duration of the internship This position may require overtime hours; interns are eligible for overtime pay.
