Basic Job Functions

The Safety Intern will support the Safety team in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment within NSBB. This role provides hands-on experience in industrial safety practices, hazard identification, and safety technology initiatives, while assisting with daily safety operations and special projects. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Key Responsibilities:Assist with safety inspections, audits, and risk mitigationSupport root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.Help update and maintain safety procedures, training materials, and documentation.Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and team mate engagement activities.Analyze safety data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.Support implementation and evaluation of proximity detection systems to enhance mobile equipment and pedestrian safety.Assist with AI-related safety initiatives, including evaluating technology applications that improve hazard re
