Your role. No busy work here. As an intern, you’ll be treated just like our entry level staff. You will work alongside National Tax Office professionals on emerging tax developments and controversy matters. You’ll help instill confidence in organizations large and small by supporting them through an evolving tax environment and their interactions with the Internal Revenue Service. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy diving deeply into complex technical issues, translating sophisticated concepts into practical guidance, and staying connected to the latest developments in federal tax. Your work will include, but not be limited to: Evaluating tax planning strategies resulting from federal legislation, regulations, court cases, and market developments. Researching technical positions, drafting memos and other position papers, and consulting with clients on a variety of federal tax matters. Engaging with the IRS and preparing responses to exams, appeals, and collections. Conducting technical research and writing memoranda to support tax positions, exam responses, and appeals. Drafting private letter ruling requests and proactive planning for future tax positions. Assisting with National Tax Office functions, such as writing internal and external tax alerts on current tax developments, tax controversy topics, and emerging planning techniques.
