Ideally, the candidate would be skilled in conducting independent research, summarizing and synthesizing information for internal and external audiences, and the ability to manage small scale projects. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Evaluation of other state policies regarding resource adequacy, large customer load, generation procurement, transmission and distribution development, and customer programming
- Development of research reports for internal and external audiences
- Administrative support on projects related to energy policy, new infrastructure development, and customer programming
This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Current student, Sophomore or higher (as of Fall 2027)
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Environmental policy, political science, law, public relations, government relations
