We're looking for a PCB Layout Engineer Co-op to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you'll work alongside avionics, systems, and software engineers supporting the design of test systems used for development, qualification, verification, and validation. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment working on new developments, active deployments, and customer-operated hardware, we want you on the team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will own one or more scoped projects end to end, with mentor support, over the engagement. Candidate projects include: Schematic-to-layout translation — Take an existing schematic for a test fixture or subsystem board and produce a first-pass PCB layout in Altium under mentor review. Deliverable: completed layout, design rule check (DRC) report, and a writeup of key placement/routing decisions. ECAD library development — Build and validate a set of component footprints and symbols for an active program, following library management best practices. Deliverable: verified library parts plus documentation of the library management process used. Stackup and impedance study — Work with a mentor to define a board stackup for a target interface (e.g., USB, Ethernet) and calculate controlled-impedance routing requirement
