The Role

Our site in Bedford, MA is seeking a Design and Process Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. In this role, you will support both the design and process engineering activities of our R&D group for new thin film coating applications. You will gain hands-on experience developing equipment and tooling, improving manufacturing and engineering processes, maintaining technical documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support innovative coating solutions.

What You’ll Do

Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and assemblies using SolidWorks while adhering to departmental drafting and documentation standards Partner with process engineers and subject matter experts to develop equipment, tooling, and process solutions that address customer and manufacturing needs Assist with the development, revision, and maintenance of process documentation, including work instructions, operating procedures, process flows, and manufacturing records Participate in design reviews and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of mechanical design improvements Coordinate with external suppliers and internal resources to procure components and support the timely introduction of new parts and assemblies Support hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes, fixtures, and equipment improvements
