Accounting Intern

Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking an Accounting Intern in St. Joseph, MO to support our accounting team with day-to-day financial operations across multiple companies in our organization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in job cost accounting within a professional setting. Build your technical accounting skills and gain real-world exposure to job costing, financial reporting, and month-end close processes in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. The intern will participate in a variety of accounting functions across the organization, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost accounting, and month-end close. The ideal intern will be detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn, with a foundation in accounting principles and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks in a collaborative team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Assist with processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Support month-end and year-end close processes. Assist with job cost accounting and tracking project costs against budgets. Assist with data entry and maintenance of accounting records in the accounting/ERP system. Support internal and external audit requests by gathering and organizing documentation as needed. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent. Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting or ERP software is a plus. Strong analytical skills and attention to detai
