The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op supports the Engineering Department through hands-on involvement in the design, detailing, documentation, and support of automated manufacturing equipment, welding systems, and custom fixtures. This role provides students with practical engineering experience in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and automation systems within a collaborative project-based environment.

The position works closely with Mechanical Engineers and cross-functional teams to support project execution activities including 3D modeling, drawing creation, bill of material development, design reviews, and manufacturing support. The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op contributes to active automation projects while developing technical skills and operational knowledge related to custom machine design and industrial automation systems.

Mechanical Design & Documentation Assist with mechanical design, detailing, and documentation of automated welding machines, fixtures, and related equipment. Utilize 3D CAD software to create, revise, and maintain engineering models and drawings. Support creation and maintenance of bills of material and project documentation packages. Assist with engineering change updates and design revisions throughout project execution. Maintain organized engineering files, drawings, and documentation records. Project & Engineering Support Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support project execution. Support project teams by assisting with technical problem solving and engineering-related tasks. Assist with maintaining engineering standards, documentation accuracy, and design consistency.
