RESPONSIBILITIES

What you'll be doing on the Financial Management Industrial Placement

On the Financial Management pathway, you'll gain hands-on experience working with teams that help Nationwide plan for the future, make informed decisions and deliver strong financial performance.

You could join one of our Finance Business Partnering teams, where you'll work alongside colleagues who provide financial insight, analysis and challenge to different areas of the Society. You'll learn how financial information supports decision-making, influences strategy and helps teams achieve their goals while delivering good outcomes for customers and members.

You may also work within our Financial Planning & Stress Testing team, where you'll gain exposure to how Nationwide plans for the future and prepares for a range of economic scenarios. This includes supporting financial planning activities, performance reporting and helping the Society understand and manage future risks and opportunities.

Throughout the placement, you'll develop practical skills in financial analysis, stakeholder management, problem solving and commercial thinking while gaining valuable insight into how finance supports a large and complex organisation.

This isn't a placement spent watching from the sidelines. From day one, you'll contribute to meaningful work while receiving the support needed to learn and grow.

Your placement begins with induction, development support and structured learning designed to help you settle in, build confidence and understand the role you'll be performing. You'll also gain access to a bespoke 12-month project aligned to our Social Impact strategy, providing opportunities to build core business skills while working alongside other Industrial Placement students from across Nationwide.

Throughout the placement, you'll follow a personalised learning pathway tailored to your role. Mentoring, development sessions and support from experienced colleagues will help you continue building your skills, confidence and professional network.

Successful completion of the placement may help shape future career choices and could provide a route into our Finance & Commercial Insight Development Programmes.
