Intern - Project Management

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. Our summer internship programs give young professionals the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of New York electricity markets, bulk electricity systems and how we plan for New York State’s energy future. The NYISO is seeking multiple Project Management Interns to support a variety of business and technology initiatives across the organization. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside project managers, business analysts, product owners, and technical teams to help plan, coordinate, track, and deliver projects that support the NYISO's critical mission. Interns will gain practical exposure to project management methodologies, business analysis, process improvement, technology implementation, and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence (AI). Through meaningful project assignments, interns will develop professional communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills while contributing to real business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Support day-to-day project management activities across business and technology initiatives. Assist with project planning, scheduling, task tracking, status reporting, and budget monitoring. Help identify, document, and track project risks, issues, dependencies, and action items. Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather information and support project execution. Develop and maintain project documentation, reports, presentations, dashboards, and meeting materials. Assist with gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
