Radiance TechnologiesAbout the role
The successful candidate will support the Department of Defense in the development and analysis of models to support Directed Energy (DE) system simulation and emulation, working on the High Energy Laser Modeling and Simulation team within Radiance’s Emerging and Disruptive Technologies Group. Typical projects involve building and integrating physics-based hardware and environment models into a real-time framework, interfacing hardware models with tactical software, and supporting test and analysis of DE systems; as well as more traditional modeling simulation and analysis efforts including parametric studies, monte carlo simulation, and design of experiments. The High Energy Laser Simulation and Assessment Division supports DoD Modeling and Simulation efforts through specialized software development as well as Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) tools and infrastructure. Our team has a unique blend of engineering, mathematics, and computer science backgrounds, providing our customers with innovative solutions to complex software and hardware problems. This opportunity will give the candidate exposure to principles and practices of engineering design, software design, and systems engineering within the context of Directed Energy systems. Our dynamic High Energy Laser Emulation team works collaboratively across a diverse team of Directed Energy engineers and scientists. Required Skills 3.2 or higher grade point average (4.0 scale). GPA must be listed on resume. Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or relevant technical degree US citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance Experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python Experience with Microsoft Office tools Desired Qualifications Self-motivated and able to work well within a team Familiarity with optical systems and lasers Experience developing physics-based and logical models Experience with hardware interfacing via serial communications, ethernet-based communications, and/or general-purpose input/output
