Visionary Solutions High School Internship Program

Position Title: High School Intern

Program Dates: January 2027–May 2027

Location: Herndon, VA

Time Commitment: Two (2) in-person sessions per month

Program Overview

The Visionary Solutions Internship Program is a career pathway experience where corporate team members work with young adults to prepare them for the workplace. Interns will gain valuable insight into workplace expectations, career paths, and essential soft and hard skills. This is an excellent opportunity for students to explore potential career interests in the field of Information Technology, build their resume, and develop a strong professional foundation.

Responsibilities

• Attend and actively participate in all scheduled in-person sessions (2 per month)
• Complete any pre-work or assignments related to session topics
• Collaborate with other student interns on group activities and projects
• Completion of final Capstone Project and Presentation
• Engage with mentors and guest speakers from various industries
• Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and a willingness to learn
• Maintain communication with program coordinators and school staff as needed
• Coordinate travel to and from school on scheduled session dates

Application Requirements

• Must be a current high school student in grades 10-12
• Interest in personal development, leadership, and career exploration

• Submit required documentation including the following:
• Personal essay answering the following questions:
• Tell us a little about yourself – Family, friends, likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc.
• Why are you a good candidate for the program?
• What do you hope to get out of the program?
• What are your plans after high school?
• What are your career goals and aspirations?
• Letter of Good Standing from High School
• 2 Letters of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or adult mentor (Must be non-family members)
• Signed Consent Form from Parent/Guardian
• Complete short interview with Internship Advisory Council

Additional Information

This is an unpaid educational internship program intended to support career development and mentorship for high school students. Students who complete the program may be eligible for certificates, references, and further career opportunities with Visionary Solutions.
