Learning opportunities include the following: 1. Parts Dept Using inventory and financial transactions associated with the parts department to ensure proper accounting. Monitoring of sales objectives by category. Reviewing department policies and procedures in conjunction with store management. 2. Service Dept Understanding and utilizing the process to charge service tickets, customer, internal and warranty and how those affect profitability. Understanding and learning the scheduling and assignment of service work and how those records interrelate to items such as recovery rates. Administration of warranty claim procedures on equipment sold. 3. Sales Determining how manufacturers’ terms, discounts, and special programming, delivery costs, valuations, and expected equipment arrival affect customer sales quotes. Review of documentation associated with sales of wholegoods, and attachments, completion, and accuracy of those documents. Gain understanding of the importance of customer relations and how that might affect companies’ profitability. 4. Precision a. Relationship of precision department to dealerships and customers when providing product knowledge related to the software and hardware on combines, tractors, planters, and sprayers electronic monitoring and application systems. 5. Store Management Gain an understanding of annual business planning, goals, and budget, as developed by the store and department managers.
